About Jennica

Jennica HarperJennica Harper was born in North Bay, Ontario, grew up in Brampton, and now lives in Vancouver, British Columbia.

She works as a screenwriter and story editor in the Canadian film industry. She’s currently at work on her second season of the hit YTV sitcom Mr. Young, and was recently a writer on the Showcase drama series Shattered. Find out more about her film and TV work here.

As a teacher, Jennica has worked in the Vancouver Film School’s Writing for Film & Television program since 2003, where she developed original curriculum that includes History of Story, an interactive media course, and lectures on TV genres from sitcoms to police procedurals. Jennica has also been an Adjunct Professor at the University of British Columbia, where she taught An Introduction to Writing for New Media. She’s also led online poetry classes through the Booming Ground program.

Jennica had her first comic book produced in 2008: Abigail’s War, issue one, was published by Zeros 2 Heroes Media in 2008 and is viewable online at AbigailsWar.com. She has also occasionally performed stand-up comedy – she won the 2007 Laff Riot Girls’ Funniest New Female Comic award – and knows she’ll never earn 500 bucks for a night of stand-up ever again.

Jennica holds an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia and a BA in English from the University of Toronto.
