Teaching

Jennica has taught in Vancouver Film School’s Writing for Film & Television program since 2003. She was hired to lead feature script and TV script workshops, and quickly became an integral part of the department, helping in the development of new curriculum when the program evolved from a 4-month program into a 12-month program in 2004.

Curriculum Jennica developed includes: ‘history of story’ classes covering the evolution of storytelling theory from Aristotle to postmodernism; a non-linear storytelling lecture; an interactive media course about writing for games, websites, blogs, etc.; a lecture-based course on films of the 1960s; lectures on TV genres such as the sitcom and the police procedural; a course on storytelling for digital designers; lectures on storytelling for 3D animators; lectures on character, theme, and 3-act structure for non-writers, and more.

Jennica has also been a substitute instructor in screenwriting workshops at her alma mater, UBC's Creative Writing Program, and in 2008, will lead an online poetry class for UBC’s Booming Ground program.
